About Us
The National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC) was reestablished in December 2015 and recognized by an act of Council of Ministers (Regulation No. 363/2015) as an autonomous Federal Government office mandated to conduct appropriate activities for the comprehensive implementation and realization of the objectives of the National Disaster Risk Management Policy and Strategy and to coordinate, monitor and provide appropriate support with respect to activities carried out by the lead sector institutions.
The Wereda Disaster Risk Profiling study is based on the framework for disaster risk analyses as adopted by Hyogo Framework of Action (HFA). The Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) is the key instrument for implementing disaster risk reduction, adopted by the Member States of the United Nations. Its overarching goal is to build resilience of nations and communities to disasters, by achieving substantive reduction of disaster losses by 2015 – in lives, and in the social, economic, and environmental assets of communities and countries. The HFA enlists three intrinsic components of disaster risk: Hazard, Vulnerability and Capacity to Cope. The UN-ISDR, in its turn, defines the sub-components of each of these three components. The undertaken study has adopted the HFA and UN-ISDR framework for risk analyses.© 2023 Wereda Disaster Risk Profile Programme, All Rights Reserved
